Not a happy bunny

Well yesterday i got told as i was finishing, that i would be driving thursday night.  This ruined all of my plans for today and meant that i would have to severely change my sleeping patterns.

So after spending most of this night awake i went up to the yard and on the drive up there i got very wound up and emotional.

I decided to leave lilja alone as much as possible as i am very conscious of not being in a bad mood around her whilst she is so young.  I spent a few minutes with her and she didnt seam bothered by me, so i brought her in for some food.

I gave vinur some food as well and he was extremely weary of me, so in hind sight i am very pleased to have kept things short so when our relationship is better i can be more emotional.

2013 juni 04

Aha up to date again, im sure that it wont last.

Had a bit of time at the yard today, so was able to give lilja quite afew short visits and ask nothing of her.  I was giving vinur a brush and she was very interested and came over, i gave her a little brush that she really seamed to enjoy, so later when sara took vinur i decided to give her a deep long brush, she seamed to really enjoy and and was much cleaner after it so i felt a little guilty for not doing it sooner.

After the brush we went to the school, on the walk down her head was low and she has never walked with me so well.  We went in the school and practiced yields, all the rear yields were easy, the front were given but only after a little more encouragement, so i think ill take honzas ideas and ask for really good front yields later.

I did struggle with the backup but sara took over a showed a better method that seamed to work.

We took another walk around the lake before giving the horses their evening food and applying flyspray.

I have really noticed today how much better she is getting, so i think shes realising or accepting that perhaps i can talk some of her language.  So im looking forward to the next sessions to see where we can take things.

2013 Juni 03

After a long day at work today, had a short play in the second summer field with lilja today.  Concentrated on yields at porcupine or driving, and as a reward for q good yield we went over to her feed bucket for a few mouthfuls of food.

She got a little excited at one point as she launched into a canter but stopped on the second stride.

Not much really to.write about but im really concentrating on the basics.

2013 Juni 02 first walk round the lake

Got up to the yard to find a rather round lilja, she and two old horses are being used as lawn mowers at the moment to remove the excess rich grass from the summer field before the three fatties go in there.

So i said a quick hello before leaving to do some work around the yard.

After the work i watched lillian ride idja and then we took lilja and drotning for a walk round the lake.  Up til now sara and i have walked maybe a third round the lake a few times.  As lilja is young and presumably unsure of traffic, we walked the road part first, we had two cars pass very nicely and she was not bothered.

We carried on walking for a short while and stopped to chat, lilja took this opportunity to be a little dominant by trying to stand on my feet.  Ive become rather good at recognizing this behaviour just before she does it, but as i normally wear protective shoes if i can i do a quick block otherwise my feet stay put.

2013 July 01

Well have had very little time this past week with lilja due to a very demanding job.

Did play a little in the school last weekend re-enforcing the basic yields.

The horses moved field lilja and drotning were the first to be let out and she seamed very happy having a little run with bucks and jumps here and there, it must have been nice for her to have a lot more space to move around compared to the winter forest field.

With long working days this week i have only been able to spend a little undemanding time with lilja, but still shes pleased to see me and instantly i have a second shadow.

Today i spent a lot of time sorting out weeds in the field but i was able to have a little lesson in the school.  The break seams to have done wonders as lilja was very good with all the basic yields at porcupine and driving, i have started to bring in the backing up so i hope that after a few more sessions we shall have thoäis one sorted as well.

2013 may 20

upto date again . . . yay !

long day at work, with much excitement of having some time with lilja.

spoken witth sara a bit about it today on the phone, and the plan was for her to go up and help lillian with the worm checking, the to give lilja a little food so when i got there i could have a little time with her before the feed.

however much to my dissapointment, when i got to the yard i found sara bringing in lilja with the post knocker in the other had and a sour look.  turns out that lilja had been presumably cornered and forced though the gate which seperates the main field and the feeding area.

she had a small mark on her chest from where she had pushed through the fence.  anyways that was almost my plans destroyed, until sara bashed in the final nails, saying about how bad her last hour at th yard had been, so i was forced to abondon my plans to try and take aload off sara.

i did manage however to have a little scratching session with lilja before putting hay out, it was nice to see vinur get down and have a roll, turned out that he and sara had been down to the lake today for a swim.

after the food had been put out, lillian appeared with her horse skeggi, who she had just put a sweetitch rug on, and lilja found this to be very interesting and followed him trying to sniff it and presumably later try to eat it. 

i gave her a customary hug and kiss good bye, and wondering now when next ill see her.

2013 may 19

bugger . . . let the blog slip, and only after one day the future doesnt look bright.

anyways went up to lilja yesturday after finishing off emptying the house of junk,   sara took a look at her mane and doesnt think that it is sweet itch my im still expecting the worse, i suppose time will tell if it is sweetitch or a horse taking advantage of trees in the malting season.

we took lilja for a walk out today, and she far far more confident than last time.  we covered the same root but stopped for a longer graze.  on the way back lilja and i lead the way a little and she is much improved with walking with me.

we cam in for a short while where i gave her some food and brushed through her tail, followed by a little brush through her mane and the application of some aloevera gel that worked wonders on the horse who i had last year (and who had a minor case of sweet-itch)

i then picked up all of her feets and then we returned to the field for evening hay and where i gave her some scratches before wishing her a good night.
